The Case for Accessible Therapy at Harvest House

The Case for Accessible Therapy at Harvest House

By Hannah Jelinek, M.S., MT-BC, RMHCI

At Harvest House, we believe mental health care shouldn’t be a privilege. It should be a basic right.

The individuals and families we serve face challenges like trauma, addiction, incarceration, homelessness, and life transitions

For many of our clients, this is their first experience with affordable therapy in Sarasota—and it’s opening the door to lasting recoveryThat’s why accessible, on-site, and stigma-free therapy isn’t just a value, it’s a necessity.

Healing Begins With Access

In 2024 alone, we provided nearly 1,000 individual therapy sessions and 34 groups across five programs—serving 126 clients.

These aren’t just stats—they represent stories of survival, courage, and transformation.

Accessible mental health support in Sarasota is essential, especially for those navigating trauma, addiction, and housing instability.

Therapy Changes Lives

  • Women’s Freedom: 93% of graduates who attended 4+ sessions completed the program.

  • Men’s Freedom: Therapy participants had over 50% graduation—double those without therapy.

  • Anxiety symptoms dropped by 55%

  • Depression improved by nearly 60%

Recidivism: The Real Impact

  • 0% of Women’s Freedom clients who received therapy re-offended

  • 46% who didn’t receive therapy did

  • Men’s Freedom therapy participants: 14% recidivism vs. 42% non-participants

That’s a 67% relative reduction in re-offense for men.

Why It Matters

We’ve seen how on-site therapy for recovery boosts engagement, reduces relapse, and helps individuals stay committed to their healing.

By offering free, on-site therapy, we remove barriers like cost, transportation, stigma, and long waitlists.

We meet people where they are—so they can begin healing in a safe, trusted environment.

Accessible mental health support in Sarasota is essential, especially for those navigating trauma, addiction, and housing instability.
