Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Partners with Harvest House to Bring Holiday Cheer to the Greater Newtown Community!
As we look to provide for our community, Bank of America’s investment in our organization will enable us to continue performing our vital work and strengthen Sarasota County.
Again this quarter we are so pleased with the many successes we’ve seen, but as we enter the critical final months of 2015, we will face an ever-increasing demand for housing that peaks during the holiday season.
County Commissioners voted yesterday to approve a $200,000 funding request.
This Saturday, July 18th, we will be having over 100 volunteers from the community out at the property cleaning, priming the exterior of the buildings, and laying sod in the back yard.
We had a very successful second quarter at Harvest House, but as recent news articles have shown, the need for services for the men and women who are homeless in Sarasota is greater than ever.
This year on January 26th there were 1,367 individuals who identified themselves as homeless in Sarasota County. 251 of them were children from 126 different families – families like Dawn’s.
A 2013 survey showed there were 350 homeless families with more than 1000 children in Sarasota County.
A self-described “loaves and fishes” ministry, The Harvest strives to “be God’s hands, extended to the community,” said longtime senior pastor Jim Minor

Please note, submitting an application for an NSP Affordable Rental does not guarantee housing. Units do not become available very often, so Harvest House will hold your application for 6 months in case a unit becomes available. The NSP program has strict gross income limits that are determined by HUD. Please see the chart below to ensure that your household meets the income requirements. Questions? Please contact housing@harvesttab.com.
Submitting an application does not guarantee housing. Our goal is to serve as many families as possible, but due to limitations, we select those with the highest acuity of need first. We hold applications for 6 months in case an opening fits the needs of each applicant over that time period.
Home Again is a housing program that helps families prepare for long-term housing stability. The best fit for the program is families that have many challenges to housing but are willing to engage with the program to improve their housing situation. Families must be willing to set goals, meet regularly with a case manager, attend life skills classes, and participate in individual housing stability plans.
