MCF and Bank of America Revitalize Recovery Housing for Women in Bradenton

BRADENTON, FL. October 8, 2021 – Nestled in the heart of Bradenton, Harvest House’s 5-acre campus for addiction recovery was recently revitalized thanks to the support of the Manatee Community Foundation and the Bank of America Charitable Foundation.

Since the Jim Russo Campus was gifted to Harvest house in 2018, the program has served over 250 clients in addiction recovery. The campus will now serve 26 women who are working hard to achieve freedom from addiction to drugs and alcohol.

“We now have a designated office space for therapy and case management meetings. We also have a free store, offering clothing and other high-need items to any client in need. The grounds are well shaded and offer ample space for horticultural therapy, outdoor gatherings, and activities that support family bonding in preparation for reunification,” said Jim Rouches, Director of Addiction Services.

“Through enrichment classes and shared living spaces, the women here have an opportunity to bond and connect in ways that help them maintain sobriety and establish healthy relationships that will last a lifetime.”

The campus needed $30,000 worth of repairs and upkeep. This included installing new appliances, redoing the floors, a fresh coat of paint, purchasing new furniture, and over $2,600 of energy efficiency upgrades. A $10,000 grant was awarded to Harvest House from the Manatee Community Foundation. A few weeks later, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation awarded Harvest House $20,000 to complete the project.

“Through enrichment classes and shared living spaces, the women here have an opportunity to bond and connect in ways that help them maintain sobriety and establish healthy relationships that will last a lifetime. Both clients and staff love the upgrades to the space and are so grateful for the peace they’re able to find here,” said Erin Minor, CEO. “We couldn’t have made this happen without the support of our partners, Bank of America and Manatee Community Foundation.”
