The need for supportive housing & social safety nets are critical to our community’s health. According to the recent ALICE Report, 127,876 households in Sarasota-Manatee are one paycheck away from being unable to meet basic needs. Without help, they are at great risk of living in poverty for generations. Harvest House is a critical point in their journey.
Through NSP, HUD provided money to local governments, nonprofits, and all 50 states for the purpose of stabilizing communities that have suffered from foreclosures and abandonment. NSP partners acquired and rehabilitated properties to sell or rent to low- and moderate-income households. NSP contributes to our overall mission of revitalizing neighborhoods and transforming lives.
Harvest House currently rents out 25 affordable rentals to low-income households. Many of these units are inhabited by former clients who worked hard to end the cycle of homelessness in their family.
We find that Freedom Recovery graduates can benefit from continued supportive housing during their next steps in recovery. For some, this is a necessary step before finding sustainable housing. Some graduate housing residents will never be able to live on their own due to age or pre-existing conditions.
Participants accepted to this program sign a program agreement and pay an affordable program fee that includes housing, utilities, and access to the Harvest Food Pantry. They also maintain access to the supportive services of the Freedom Recovery program, including the life-skills classes, support groups, and our loving community.
As housing costs significantly rise & wages increase at a snail’s pace, our neighbors are finding it increasingly more difficult to maintain safe housing, and much harder to bounce back after experiencing homelessness. Without help, they are at great risk of living in poverty for generations. Today, poverty causes families to live in unsafe neighborhoods and have no or unreliable transportation, exposing children to violence, trauma, interrupted schooling, and feelings of worthlessness and hopelessness. Harvest House is a critical point in their journey.

Please note, submitting an application for an NSP Affordable Rental does not guarantee housing. Units do not become available very often, so Harvest House will hold your application for 6 months in case a unit becomes available. The NSP program has strict gross income limits that are determined by HUD. Please see the chart below to ensure that your household meets the income requirements. Questions? Please contact housing@harvesttab.com.
Submitting an application does not guarantee housing. Our goal is to serve as many families as possible, but due to limitations, we select those with the highest acuity of need first. We hold applications for 6 months in case an opening fits the needs of each applicant over that time period.
Home Again is a housing program that helps families prepare for long-term housing stability. The best fit for the program is families that have many challenges to housing but are willing to engage with the program to improve their housing situation. Families must be willing to set goals, meet regularly with a case manager, attend life skills classes, and participate in individual housing stability plans.
