FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Blue Rooster and Harvest House Partner for Homeless Solutions during the 2015 Giving Challenge
SARASOTA, Fla. August 31, 2015 –It’s no secret that homelessness has been an ongoing issue for Sarasota’s Downtown Rosemary District. For the first time, in celebration of the 2015 Giving Challenge, The Blue Rooster will be partnering with Harvest House to support homeless solutions.
What’s more is that the evening of September 1st there will be representatives from Harvest House at The Blue Rooster talking about our mission and the impact we are having in the Greater Newtown Community and Sarasota County.
If Harvest House reaches its goal of 124 donors in 24 hours, a generous donor will award Harvest House $24,000! Gifts to Harvest House during the 2015 Giving Challenge will help #TurnTheLightsOn at the Family Village!
The Family Village concept was one of Dr. Marbut’s original recommendations. #TurnTheLightsOn is a $600,000 capital fundraising campaign for the purchase & renovation of 18 apartments that were once a magnet for criminal activity in the Greater Newtown area. Once renovated, the Family Village will provide housing & supportive services for unaccompanied youth, families and veteran families struggling to recover from the devastation of homelessness.
It will be a very special night with great food, fun, and friends and music by Lauren Mitchell & The Professor
The 2015 Giving Challenge is made possible by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County and The Patterson Foundation with support from the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation, John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Manatee Community Foundation, and the Herald-Tribune Media Group.
